Visual and Performing Arts have always been an essential part of Heidi’s life. From a young age, she took ballet, jazz, and tap lessons. If she was not dancing, you would find her with a pencil in hand, creating murals for her bedroom or singing at church and city functions. As she progressed, her dance repertoire expanded to include clogging, ballroom, and local Broadway performing groups. In high school, Heidi was a member of the ballroom dance team, and she was also cast in several musical productions. Her favorite roles were Kim MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie, and Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She also received State and National Fine Art awards, and was flown to Washington D.C. to receive them! Heidi graduated with a bachelor’s in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Utah State University. During college, she studied art in Switzerland, danced on the university’s ballroom team, and toured with the New Horizon’s dance team in Florida, Texas, and California. Living in Iowa while her husband attended medical school, she became very involved in the local theatre community. She choreographed several shows, including Annie, Junie B. Jones, and Honk. She is the mother of four children and this busy life takes her from soccer, dance, to music lessons. Being counted among the Rising Star staff is thrilling and renewing and she cherishes the opportunity to instruct young, impressionable dancers. We are so proud to have her on our team.
